A/N: This is a pet project of mine (a snippet of one of the parts). My cousin is the co-author, but he wishes to remain anonymous—maybe he’ll cave in near the end…
Pairing: Er…no pairing…yet…I think…
Characters: Chuck, Casey, Sarah---the usual gang. There will be a villain of my own design, but any, and all, new characters are secondary to the main characters of the show (i.e. don't worry about Mary Sues. I hate them).
Rating: Hard R (read warning)
Spoilers: Up to, and including, Chuck verses the Marlin
Warnings: Violence, swearing—though no more than the usual amount, and a bit mental anguish...
Summary: The day had finally come—they knew it would eventually. Chuck had been taken…
Definition: "Lethe" - 1) a river of Hades, in classical myth, which caused the drinker to forget all that they had done, said and felt during their life. The dead were forced to drink of it's waters once they arrived in the underworld; 2) a state of forgetfulness; amnesia.
Prologue (at a later time):
"Please, you have to believe me!” The young man exclaimed, struggling in vain against the two male nurses that held him down. The woman beside them was filling a syringe with his medication as two more rushed in to restrain him. “My name is Chuck Bartowski! I know that’s my name! Please—”
These brief fits of his were few and far between, but the alarming accuracy of them—the same name, the same plea—couldn’t be coincidence. Was this really ‘Chuck Bartowski’? No…her father said they were just delusions and that these terrors of his would pass…with time…
She stared into his pleading eyes, transfixed, until the needle pricked his arm. He cringed, releasing a sob of defeat, and gave up to the men struggling with him on the floor. Soon these terrors would die forever…
…and so would this idea that he was ‘Chuck Bartowski’…
